Large international firm with North American (NA) HQ in SE VA has an opportunity for an Assistant Internal Audit Manager. Domestic and European travel required. Primary focus for this position is carrying out audits and quality assurance for internal control activities at all of the NA operating companies including corp. HQ.
• Provide independent, objective assurance/advisory activity that add value and improve Group ops.
• Manage corporate audit engagements for all NA businesses with activity covering potentially all business processes – financial, operational, IT and legal/compliance.
• Directly manage 2 Corporate Audit staff and additional staff or outsourced support.
• Provide leadership for the department, with particular focus over the corporate audit function
• Build a network across the Group with senior stakeholders including Managing and Fin. Directors.
• Support the Internal Audit (IA) Managers and Head of Internal Audit in planning and setting future direction and driving the development of the department’s skill sets and capabilities
• Deliver high quality audits, with particular focus in the corporate audit function, internationally across the Group
• Ensure that assignment planning is high quality - developing procedures to achieve audit objectives against a clear assessment of business risk
• Ensure excellent communication with management throughout the audit
• Prepare clear and concise recommendations for improvement.
• Prepare draft and final reports for submission to the Head of Group IA for approval and publication
• Ensure follow up of audit recommendations to establish that businesses achieve corrective actions within agreed timescales
• Manage resource requirements in the IA dept. including outsourced support where necessary, and organise scheduling
• Perform consulting on special projects or assignments as required
• Use project management tools to oversee project progress
• Develop IA staff on the job or through team meetings including giving appraisals and performing training
Ideal Background:
• Potential to develop into more senior roles outside the department
• Professional qualification in Accountancy and Auditing
• Good knowledge of professional audit working practices
• 5+ years business experience, audit or finance related, ideally gained within a multinational organization
• Exceptional influencing and stakeholder management skills. Ability to engage, inspire and influence people at all levels across the Group
• Excellent communication skills, including ability to converse in business and financial language
• Excellent analytical skills, Excel skills, Strong attention to detail
• Preferred knowledge of Sales Force cloud apps and platforms, Pentana, and ACL
• Ability to identify and analyse opportunities to add value
• Ability to prioritise, multitask and manage deadlines
• Customer service oriented, Ability to work independently
• Excellent team working skills, Capable of managing people
